Swinford - the cemetery and church

After exploring Swinford for a while, we tried to find Kilconduff Cemetery, but went the wrong way. So then Google Maps "rerouted" us to this lane:

Seriously, Google?! We ended up with quite a lot of grass stuck to the car's undercarriage, but we survived the experience.

Kilconduff is another pretty cemetery, with a great view:

We found what might be the headstone (or memorial stone) for Matt's great-great-grandparents (Michael and Mary Gallagher). Once again, it was very worn and we couldn't make out dates.

The headstone is very close to this chapel, along the path that leads to it:

Here's a closeup. We think it says, "Pray for the soul of Michael Gallagher and his wife Mary":

At the base, it looks like the headstone was placed at the behest of a Mary Reilly:

Although we saw quite a few headstones for Stensons (but never "Stinson," which is how we had thought that surname was spelled), they were too new to be ancestors. Of course, they could be relatives.

Our Lady Help of Christians Church, aka Swinford Church, was built in 1891, but many of the monuments and plaques inside were dated earlier, so there is almost certainly some connection with an earlier church that Matt's Gallagher and Stenson ancestors would have worshipped in. And his great-great-grandparents Gallagher and other relatives would have worshipped in this "new" building. Here's an undated historic photo:

How it looks now:

Beautiful stained glass:
